Weakening affinity of SUS304 asperities to die surface with TiN coating for preventing delayed cracks in deep-drawn cups

چکیده
SUS304 stainless steel surface asperities have a strong affinity to tool surfaces. Therefore, the flow of material in flange portion during deep drawing process is retarded due adhesive wear, leading increase amount wall thicknening along cup edge and rising risk for delayed cracks. In this paper, TiN coating applied die weaken affinity. Under elevated blank holding forces (BHF), experimental results showed that crack-free BHF range coated uncoated dies are 5–10 12 kN, respectively. The magnitude successfully lowered enlarged with die. weakened evidenced by low estimated coefficient friction (COF) obtained from finite element (FE) simulation. contrast, COF high even at wear. cracks observed under 7–11 kN. At wear fragments formed boundary layer increases as result continuous polishing asperities. sharpyly decreased smooth relative movement contacting surfaces facilitated fragments. prevented. However, tend penetrate into excessive 13 kN above resulting formation again. To eliminate cracks, drawn cups must achieve threshold values less than 32.5% thickening more 33.3 mm height valley points.

An investigation of springback stresses in AISI-1010 deep drawn cups
The residual stresses created by deep drawing of AISI-1010 cups were investigated by means of neutron diffraction. The wall thickness of the cups was below 3.0 mm, for which 8–10 through-thickness measurements were conducted. It was found that the axial, and tangential stress profiles are similar to what is expected from a bending–unbending operation, but it also exhibits a strong dependence on...

Reinforced carbon/carbon (RCC) is used to protect the wing leading edge and nose cap of the Space Shuttle Orbiter on re-entry. Due to the thermal expansion mismatch of the carbon/carbon and the SiC, the SiC cracks on cool-down from the processing temperature. The cracks act as pathways for oxidation of the...
